Electronic Locking System for New Parish Centre in Velbert

Church institutions today face the challenge of providing secure yet flexible access to their buildings for a wide range of user groups – from employees and parish members to clubs, associations and external event organisers. This requirement was consistently implemented in the construction of the new parish centre of the Catholic parish of St. Michael and Paul in Velbert with a modern electronic locking solution from WILKA.

Flexible and Future-Proof Access Solution

The objective of the project was to implement a system that not only meets current requirements but can also be expanded to additional parish properties in the future. The decision was deliberately made in favour of WILKA Schließtechnik GmbH, a regional manufacturer with many years of experience in the development and production of high-quality locking systems.

During the planning phase, WILKA worked closely with the parish and provided a detailed introduction to the easyAccess electronic locking system. The installation was carried out by experienced security technology specialist Keycept Sicherheitstechnik from Mönchengladbach. Approximately nine months elapsed from the initial consultation to the final installation.

Centralised Management for Maximum Flexibility

The focus was on providing a flexible and convenient way to assign access rights to different user groups. The easyAccess electronic locking system enables the creation of individual user and time profiles, allowing access to be granted to various clubs and organisations on specific days and at designated times.

Another major advantage is the central management of the system across multiple locations. “Our easyAccess electronic locking system is perfectly suited for this purpose. It is server-based and can be managed remotely,” explains Manuel Immach from WILKA.

Powerful System for Diverse Requirements

easyAccess combines electronic cylinders, wall readers and central management software into a modular overall system. This makes the solution suitable for both smaller properties and complex, multi-site installations.

The intuitive software allows all access rights to be managed easily – from initial assignment and modifications through to revocation. Depending on the system configuration, installations with up to 64,000 doors and users can be managed. “The easyAccess system is a highly sophisticated, network-capable and user-friendly solution,” says Michael Schulte, Managing Director of Keycept Sicherheitstechnik. “Its structure is clear and purpose-driven.”

Modern RFID transponders featuring MIFARE® DESFire® technology are used for secure user identification. These ensure encrypted data transmission and therefore a high level of security. At the same time, contactless operation provides convenience in everyday use. Event logs also enable transparent tracking of all access activities.

Practical Equipment Throughout the Building

An easyAccess E231 wall reader was installed at the main entrance of the parish centre, allowing access via transponder. Changes to access rights are transmitted online and are automatically updated the next time the transponder is used.

Various electronic cylinders are installed throughout the building, including versions with electronics on one or both sides as well as special panic cylinders for emergency exit doors. Mechanical solutions were also integrated where appropriate, for example for personal lockers used by priests and staff members.

Competent Partner for Installation and Support

Following the successful installation, Keycept Sicherheitstechnik provided training for the responsible personnel on site. As a result, the parish is now able to manage and adapt the system independently and flexibly. “Keycept is an absolute professional in the project business and a reliable WILKA partner,” emphasises Manuel Immach. “Its employees possess extensive expertise in security technology and ensure the professional and cooperative implementation of our projects.”

The new parish centre in Velbert demonstrates how modern electronic locking systems can successfully combine security, flexibility and user-friendliness in a single solution.
